Monolithic Architectures

Modular .NET Applications|One Coherent Deployment|Clear Internal Boundaries

Sphere 10 builds substantial .NET applications that remain straightforward to deploy and maintain. A modular monolith keeps related business operations within one application boundary, with explicit separation between presentation, processing and persistence. It suits systems that benefit from a shared transaction model and a coordinated release.

Organise the Business Inside the Application

We map the business into meaningful domains such as orders, inventory, scheduling and reporting. Each domain gets defined operations, data ownership and interfaces. A screen invokes an application operation; that operation owns the business rule and coordinates persistence. This prevents rules from being duplicated across forms, controllers and background tasks.

Our published Sphere10 architecture guidance describes this separation across presentation, processing and data, with shared data objects and communications where required. We apply it to the actual solution and dependencies, retaining useful existing modules when modernising an established application.

Compose a Single Host With Reusable Foundations

C# and ASP.NET Core can host the application API and browser interface, with Windows presentation available where the workflow requires it. Sphere10 Framework.Application provides service composition, named startup contributions and lifecycle hooks. ApplicationPluginBuilder can assemble related capabilities while keeping the application's own policy in its business modules.

For transactional work, the Framework's IDAC and DACScope mechanisms make connection and local transaction ownership explicit. A business operation can commit its related changes together within the selected database. External calls and long-running work get deliberate completion and recovery policies rather than keeping a database transaction open while waiting on another system.

A solution structure with domain interfaces and dependency rules your team can explain.
Implemented application operations with validation, permissions and transaction boundaries.
An administration interface, diagnostics and background processing appropriate to the workload.
A repeatable build and one coordinated deployment with database migration instructions.

Verify the Release as One Working System

Acceptance follows complete business journeys across the interface, processing layer and database. We test rollback after a failed operation, concurrent changes to the same record and restart behaviour for background work. Performance checks identify the actual constraint, including expensive queries, oversized object graphs or thread contention, before adding infrastructure.

You receive source, the module map, deployment and recovery instructions, and a supported baseline for future changes. We document which boundaries could support later extraction if scale or organisational ownership changes. The immediate result is a cohesive application with testable internal structure, controlled releases and operational responsibilities your team can own.
