Windows, macOS & Linux
Desktop Platform Engineering|Native Distribution|Consistent Application Behaviour
Sphere 10 ports and delivers software for Windows, macOS and Linux with attention to the differences users notice: installation, file access, desktop integration, updates and reliable operation. We take responsibility for the platform work around the shared application, not just compilation.
Match the Desktop to the Product
For a shared desktop interface we assess Avalonia against the required controls, accessibility, graphics and native integrations. A command-line or background product may use .NET without a UI toolkit. Existing Windows Forms or WPF interfaces remain Windows interfaces unless a separate migration is part of the scope.
We establish the supported operating-system and processor combinations, packaging format and distribution channel. File associations, opening URLs, tray behaviour and native dialogs need platform-specific implementation and verification. An application that launches from a developer terminal has not yet demonstrated that it works from the installed desktop environment.
Build on Demonstrated Distribution Work
Our Local Notion product documents native archives for Windows, Linux and macOS, with Intel and ARM variants where provided. Its installation helpers retain earlier version directories, and its documentation distinguishes portable extraction from user installation. Those are concrete product concerns we bring into a cross-platform delivery plan.
The product also documents that its macOS archives are unsigned and not notarized. For your application we agree signing, notarization and installer responsibilities explicitly rather than implying that a successful macOS build completes commercial distribution. The same clarity applies to Linux package dependencies and Windows signing.
Resolve the Operating-System Edges
Deliver a Platform Matrix
The handover contains reproducible target builds, package manifests, native dependency information and a tested installation guide. Acceptance covers first launch from the real desktop, access to local files and services, upgrade from the previous version and recovery from an interrupted update. We provide a clear list of platform differences and supported configurations so support teams can reproduce an issue without guessing which developer-machine dependency made the original demonstration work.
