Download Local Notion for Windows, macOS or Linux, or run the command-line application in Docker. Native archives include the application and its .NET runtime; a separate .NET installation is not required.
The current public release is Local Notion v1.6.3 , identified by its release metadata as 1.6.3.7, build 7. The download links below follow GitHub's latest published stable release. Use the versioned release page when you need to retain a particular build.
create-cms. That command is implemented and verified in a separate development build. Check the exact executable with localnotion create-cms --help before following its command reference; a matching major/minor version does not establish that an unreleased command is included.
Contents
1. Native application
Choose the archive matching both your operating system and processor architecture. Extract the complete archive and keep the supporting files beside the executable.
| Operating system | Architecture | Download |
| Windows | x64 | Windows x64 ZIP |
| Windows | x86 / 32-bit | Windows x86 ZIP |
| Windows | ARM64 | Windows ARM64 ZIP |
| macOS | Apple Silicon / ARM64 | macOS Apple Silicon archive |
| macOS | Intel / x64 | macOS Intel archive |
| Linux | x64 | Linux x64 archive |
| Linux | ARM64 | Linux ARM64 archive |
| Linux | ARM / 32-bit | Linux ARM archive |
Portable use
Open a terminal in the extracted directory. On Windows, run:
.\localnotion.exe --version
.\localnotion.exe --help
On macOS or Linux, run:
./localnotion --version
./localnotion --help
Portable use leaves the application in its extracted directory. Create or select a separate working folder for the Notion content you intend to manage.
Install for your user account
Windows
Run the included installer from the extracted native Windows archive:
.\install.bat
The installer copies the complete package into a versioned directory beneath %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\LocalNotion and adds that directory to your user PATH. Open a new terminal after installation. The included install.ps1 also supports -InstallRoot and -NoPath; read the package README before selecting a custom location.
If another Local Notion installation already exists, check which command PowerShell selects:
Get-Command localnotion -All
localnotion --version
macOS and Linux
From the extracted native archive, run:
sh ./install.sh
The default prefix is $HOME/.local. The installer keeps versioned application files beneath that prefix and maintains the bin/localnotion link. Add the prefix's bin directory to your shell PATH if it is not already present. A custom prefix can be selected with sh ./install.sh --prefix DIRECTORY.
2. Docker
The official image runs the Local Notion CLI and writes content to mounted storage. It does not provide an HTTP server or website hosting. A generated website still needs a separately configured web server such as Nginx.
Run the official image
The published image targets linux/amd64. To select the current version explicitly:
docker pull ghcr.io/sphere10/local-notion:1.6.3
docker run --rm ghcr.io/sphere10/local-notion:1.6.3 --version
docker run --rm ghcr.io/sphere10/local-notion:1.6.3 --help
Use ghcr.io/sphere10/local-notion:latest to follow the latest stable image. The
release metadata
also records an image digest for an immutable image reference. Pull an updated image explicitly before using it; an installed launcher does not automatically download image updates on every command.
The Docker guide explains repository mounts, private token files, foreground commands, background synchronization, Git authentication and updates. Its older version examples should be replaced with the release tag you select.
Windows Docker command launcher
Download the Windows Docker launcher bundle , extract the complete ZIP into a writable directory, and run:
.\install.bat
This bundle installs a Windows command launcher and pulls the image version recorded in the bundle. The application runs inside Docker. The native Windows archive in section 1 runs the application directly on Windows. Select the package that matches how you intend to run it.
3. Verify a download
The release provides SHA256SUMS.txt and release.json . Download the checksum file from the same release as your archive, calculate the archive's SHA-256 and compare the complete value for that filename.
On Windows PowerShell:
Get-FileHash .\localnotion-win-x64.zip -Algorithm SHA256
On Linux:
sha256sum localnotion-linux-x64.tar.gz
On macOS:
shasum -a 256 localnotion-osx-arm64.tar.gz
Replace the example filename with your download. release.json records the application version, build number, source commit, archive identities and Docker image identity. After extraction or installation, confirm the executable's own version and help before using a version-specific command.
